About the author: Charles H. Ripp MD is a practicing  physician in Colorado Springs,  Colorado. He began writing seriously in high school while living in a  rural Wisconsin community. As a high  school senior he won the  Scholastica magazine national student award in writing for a story in  the form of a poem titled: The Lights Went Out In  Green Bay. This  revered the passing of Vince Lombardi, the great Green Bay Packer  football coach.
